The State Union of Serbia & Montenegro existed between 2003 and 2006. The two republics, both of which are former republics of SFR Yugoslavia, initially formed the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992. In 2003, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was reconstituted as a State Union Serbia & Montenegro. On 3rd of June, 2006, Montenegro declared independent, 2 days later Serbia did the same. This ended the State Union of Serbia & Montenegro.
