Eurovision Song Contest 2015 First Semi-Final
The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is held in the capital of Austria, Vienna. It is the second time in history the city hosts the contest. The right for hosting the contest came when Conchita Wurst brought home the trophy with her Rise Like A Phoenix from Copenhagen the year before.
Vienna was announced as the host city already in August last year, with the Wiener Stadhalle taking the honour of being the arena for the contest. While, just a while before that, the official Eurovision Song Contest logo evolved. See how the country-specific logos look like!
The big announcements
Just a few months after this was settled, the official theme artwork was released and in just some weeks later we found out who the shows would be hosted by and why. But this was not it - then we also announced how many countries would compete for the victory of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
The year ended with the new official vignette being presented, see it below!
In January, Vienna became officially the host city and all the Semi-Finalists were drawn into their respective shows. In addition to that, the pre-qualified Finalists were drawn to vote in either of the two Semi-Finals.
However, when Australia joined, then the shows the pre-qualified contestants would vote ended up as:
- United Kingdom
It was not until the end of March when all the Semi-Finals got their running order.
But the story continues... stay tuned!
