About Dami Im

Australia participates in the Eurovision Song Contest for the second time ever and with their first female participant. Dami Im was born in South Korea and moved to Australia at the age 9. A classically trained pianist, she won the X Factor in 2013 and the hearts of the Australian public, building a successful career thanks to her remarkable voice.

Like all great stories, Dami Im’s life sounds a lot like a fairy tale. There’s a certain amount of struggle, a determination to succeed and then the joys that success itself eventually brings. Dami was born in South Korea, she moved to Brisbane, Australia with her family when she was 9.

A classically trained pianist, she learnt how to speak English through listening to pop songs. Dami arrived in the spotlight seemingly out of nowhere in 2013, taking out the X Factor crown. Her astonishing voice and transformation into a fully-fledged pop performer won the hearts of the Australian public. More success followed as Dami earned a number one album with Dami Im and followed it with the hugely successful Top 10 release, Heart Beats and hits such as Alive, Super Love and Gladiator.

Dami, like all great singers knows how to inhabit a song and make it her own. Her choice of stage-wear may draw an audience in, but the real exchange comes when an audience hears her remarkable voice.
