Traditionally, the Eurovision Song Contest is being produced by the national public broadcaster of the country that won the year before. This year, Channel One Russia is taking care of the production, in close cooperation with the EBU and over 40 participating Member Broadcasters from across Europe. Soon, we will introduce the people behind the show to you.
The Host Broadcaster
Channel One Russia, founded in 1951, is the largest public service broadcaster in Russia, and is managed from the Ostaniko Technical Centre in Moscow. It's director is Mr. Konstantin Ernst.
The station airs the Russian editions of popular television formats such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Survivor and Star Factory, as well as many in-house productions. It has produced several high-profile films, including four of the highest-grossing Russian movies ever made, Night Watch (2004), The Turkish Gambit (2005), Day Watch (2006), and The Irony of Fate 2 (2007).
