Sorry for being so talkative... But I just want to add the last thing. Among Russians (not only those who are 10-20 years old) the most popular songs are those from Soviet times. People are fed up with the songs without meaning, without good melodies which are impossible to sing together. People feel the emptiness of modern culture and look for something to fill in the souls in the past. :( Dead way.

@marcelffm from Germany - Babushki was my choice as well... for the same reason... vrey funny... and by the way, the most honest entry! others are brrr... Russian art is not lost in Arctic seas. Art and business are two things which can not co-exist. Everyrhing can be sold and bought in today's Russia (almost everything). Many people have this mentality, especially youngsters who are fans of this competition. They are ready "to eat everything". And also they are too young to remember the times when talens dominated the TV stages (unlike now). There are a lot of talents. Look for them on youtube. Not on Russian TV (they are very rare there)

Pavla, Panayotov??? Is it a joke? They have no own face. Bleak copies, products of show-biz.... The whole concert was impossible to listen and a complete waste of time. Not pleasure at all. No life. Nothing for the soul. So unnatural.. and everything in English. I know English but I hate when Russian pretend that we sing in English. NOBODY in Russia sings in English (except for just some singers), nobody listens to Russians signing in English. If we like foreign singers, we listen theor songs in their languages. But Russian pop is totally different from the western. It has nothing to do with what we saw in this concert. Almost all singers were fake. i'd rather see them singing Katiusha than all that nonsense I heard today. I had bery good laugh sometimes. Especially when I heard "I looove you baaaby"... How original...

Has Russian music culture got lost in the Siberian Arctic? I'm so fed up with all that western popish style uniformity. There were a few exceptions (particularly that red dressed trad squad), but nothing really convincing. But yes, I had a favourite act: Elena Esenina - lovely in all respects. So she was doomed, since my favourite never wins. (Btw, I did like the junior song, I did not like Mr. Rybak singing "Fairytale" twice, and I'm so glad that I have no idea who that strangely acting white-shirted interval guy was.) I'm truly amazed by the winner; the sound of the Russian soul, I suppose - sung in English.
