Jerusalem, Israel -

The Kdam show was held in the Neve Ilan TV studios in Israel tonight. Harel Skaat performed 4 songs, and a combined jury and televote resulted in victory for the song Milim, which Harel will perform at Europe's Favourite TV Show in Oslo.

The show was produced by Reshet, one of the two operators of Channel 2 in Israel. It was hosted by Ofer Shechter. Gali Atari and Harel Skaat opened the show by singing a duet of the Israeli 1979 Eurovision Song Contest winner Hallelujah.

Tonights result was decided by a mixture of jury and televoting. A 60% weighting of the overall vote was given to an expert jury. This is made up of people from the broadcaster IBA and Reshet. Along with them there are three more juries, Israeli parliament members, OGAE Eurovision fan club members and Harel Skaat's fan club members. The other 40% weighting was for the televoting public.

A panel of three experts gave comments on each of the four songs. These were composer Tzvika Pick, Moshe Datz who represented Israel as half of Duo Datz in the 1991 edition of Europe's Favourite TV Show and Mira Awad, who along with Noa represented Israel in Moscow last year. The three experts all preferred song number four Milim.

The competing four songs tonight were:

  • Le'an
  • Elayich
  • Le'hitkarev
  • Milim

After the four songs had been presented, a short interval act was held while the televotes were being counted and checked. The jury and televoting results were then revealed. There was no disagreement whatsoever as all of the juries and televoters all gave Milim maximum points.

Israel has won Europe's Favourite TV-show on three occasions, with Izhar Cohen & Alphabeta in 1978 and the song Abanibi, Milk & Honey featuring Gali Atari won in 1979 with Hallelujah and most recently Dana International won the 1998 contest in Birmingham with Diva.

Israel will participate in the first part of the Second Semi-Final of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest on Thursday 27th of May.

I hope political issues want have any influence on this years result.
This song is definitely the most beautiful song of this years contest and Harel Skaat is a great live performer. He reminds me of Jacques Brel ( and that sure is a compliment!)
I'm going to vote for Israel this year.
A lot of support and greetings from Belgium!
