Kyiv, Ukraine -

The new chairman of the Ukrainian public broadcaster NTU, Yehor Benkendorf, has cancelled the entry of Vasyl Lazarovych for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Just hours after the press conference, new rules for a new Ukrainian entry for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest have been announced. This time, the Ukrainian national selection will be open and the TV viewers will have a chance to pick the best singer and song out of twenty.

The TV viewers in Ukraine have now the possibility to listen to all twenty entries on the local television. There is also Vasyl Lazarovych among the participants. He wants to try his luck once again in the open final.

Here is a line-up of the participants in the national final:

1. Vasyl Lazarovych
2. Vitalij Kozlovskij
3. Miya
4. Band Da Zzle Dreams
5. Oleksij Matias
6. Nataliya Valevska
7. El Kravchuk
8. Mira Gold
9. Duet Stereo
10. Yuliya Vois
11. Zlata Okhnevych
12. Max Barskih

15. Ivan Berehzovskij
16. Vladislav Levitskij
17. Band Zakliopky

On the 19th and 20th of March, 20 clips, each in length of 20 seconds, will be shown in the programmes of the NTU channel as well as in the programmes of its partner broadcasters. Thus the Ukranian people will be able to listen to the 20 musical pieces several times and choose by sms-voting the one which deserves to represent Ukraine in Oslo. On the evening of the 19th of March, all 20 songs will be merited a full-length performance on Shuster Live on local television.

Finally, on the 20th of March, the TV audience will once again be able to root for the best entry in a big music show to be held in Kyiv.

Last year Ukraine finished 12th at the 54th Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Russian capital of Moscow. The entry, Be My Valentine! (Anti-Crisis Girl), was performed by Svetlana Loboda.

I think that reelection on the ukrainian entry for Eurovision this year was bound to happen. The reason for this is that there was no fair election in the first place, since people could not vote for the artist they like. Instead Vasyl Lazarovych was chosen by a committee of the First National Channel. In my opinion it does not matter if the song they pick is great or horrible - it simply shouldn't be their choice, but the choice of the majority of ukrainians. Personally, I did not think that Vasyl's song was right for this contest, even though I agree that he is a talented singer. If, however, his song really is the best, he will fairly win tomorrow's selection by obtaining the majority of viewers' votes.

ooh, sorry if i have hit a nerve mr. ukrainiancossack, thought maybe u wud like to change ur name like ur song. I love the armenian entry, Apricot Rain, love it, i also loved your song. No i realise now that after having seen all ur new songs, that u do not want to win, ur country cud probably not afford to host a competition of that size, and u wud probably keep changing the venue, u had a really good chance with I LOVE YOU, all the rest has the whole of europe laffing. Keep up the good work, this is the idiot, or maybe it is just idiot, signing out, but be warned, I WILL BE BACK, u amuse me little person hahaha

A sympathy vote isnt going to win you a Eurovision competition. Be brave and bold and pick the song that you think has the best chance to WIN! It isnt Vasyl, that is clear from all the blogs on this site, NO ONE was choosing this song as their favourite and hardly any in their top 10!!

For mine, and I apologise I dont know the names of the 20 artists to their faces but the female with long straight blonde hair has the catchiest song from the 20 sec clip i saw.

Good Luck with your voting. I am very interested to see who you choose :) x

It is really embarrassing, what the Ukraine tries this year. But I feel pity for such a great guy like Vasyl Lazarovych. I fear the new chairman Benkendorf only tries to get the girl with the zebra patterned top (don't know her name) in the contest and therefore kick Vasyl out. It is humiliating for Vasyl and I wonder why he still participates in the new national selection.

Hopefully the Ukraine gets banned.
And hopefully Vasyl will be popular all over Europe, not just Ukraine, then his participation was not in vain. The song does not suit him, but he has got great videos on youtube.

Ok Everyone

Here is the link to the 20 songs that the new TV station think are better than Vasyl!!!!! What do you think????

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q3Sclgn7uY&feature=player_embedded

I still think that Vasyl is the best and he has such dignity to stand there again and audition for the title that he has already won. Even the act "Emotional Lady" had to have the words of the song on stage with them.

I feel very sorry for Vasyl - I actually want to vote for Vasyl now!!!!!!!

Does the new songs make the public in Ukraine any happier?

Again Greeting from Ireland
Good Luck to Ukraine

In defense of Belina Ann ..Its not just that lady is complaining about this situation as i am sure Your own country must think it is a bit unusual though you would not have been in the contest as long as most of the other countries have which goes back 55 years ..So forgive us if we question that in 55 years that THIS should happen??? she is not daft just as doubtful as we all are and very very suspicious !!! scroll down and see the other comments and YES I too will not be supporting UKRAINE unless the orinignal singer is particpating ..My heart goes out to him and i hope you guy do th eright thing and let him SING for his country xxx All in the good spirit of Eurovision which we are all accustomed to ...
