France requests to vote in first Semi-Final

France requests to vote in first Semi-Final
The French flag
Geneva, Switzerland -

Broadcaster France 3 has approached the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group with a request to move the broadcast and voting obligation of the draw for France from the second to the first Semi-Final, to avoid scheduling problems. At the same time, France 3 would commit itself to more intense promotion of the contest, including the commitment to broadcast both Semi-Finals (the first one live, the second one deferred). The Reference Group accepted the proposal.

The decision leads to the following change in the way the so-called 'Big Four' (France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom) and host country Norway vote in the two Semi-Finals:

Broadcasting of and voting in the first Semi-Final: France, Germany and Spain
Broadcasting of and voting in the second Semi-Final: Norway and the United Kingdom

Svante Stockselius, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union, said to Eurovision.tv: "We appreciate the commitment of France 3 to, for the first time, broadcast all three shows. This decision is in line with French success and good ratings of the 2009 contest in Moscow, and supports growing interest in the Eurovision Song Contest in France."

Chers amateurs de musique en France, en Belgique et en Suisse romande,
un avantage de l’Eurovision, c’est le fait qu’il est impossible de voter pour son propre pays.

France's entry is very interesting this year. Dynamic, rhythmic. But not quite as cool as the frenchman with the beard and all his choir girls with beards. Still Cyprus is the best. One thing is for sure. Next year is South! report to the moderator

Dear readers and organizers of ESC Oslo 2010,
What happens now with the accept of the decedents of ESC 2010 to allow France to vote in the first semi-final is a real harassment... a mock vis-a-vis of the competitors in the second semi-final.... It is known, by far that on of the big loser in this situation is to be Romania. This will lose votes from France and Spain a lot...so by now, Romania adios for the Final this year! Germany and Norway in the happiest way will cast 1 pct each for ROU....I mean nothing...
Shame again. So the best solution for next year is that ROU to withdraw from this political competition.
Probably this year Denmark, Norway or even France must win!!!! and in order to help the countries which must vote for France or the other to named countries, the game should develop like this...exactly like the Danish song In a moment like this...France has to do bis...

Don't like the sounds of this one.

Sounds like they want to be moved so they can vote for nearby countries.

This scheduling difficulties is a load of bull.

Eurovision dates are known well in advance so stations should know not to schedule programmes for those nights.

VOTE FOR IRELAND!! :) report to the moderator

Why does the EBU allow it..? What's the point of a draw?....I don't get it, especially after the Spanish fiasco last year. I am sure the French are planning something similar - delayed braodcast or something.. shame. report to the moderator
