Oslo, Norway -

Considered to be one of the strongest candidates for the trophy of the Eurovision Song Contest beforehand, Safura managed to deliver, with the help of a world-class team behind her. She finished fifth in Europe's favourite TV-show in Oslo.

Who is she?

Safura started to sing at the age of three. At six she had her first stage performance. And ever since, she has taken part in various competitions. She is the winner of Azerbaijani talent show Yene Ulduz which is the equivalent to Pop Idol.

Safura graduated from musical school where she played violin, though she always dreamed about playing saxophone. And if you want something very bad, you go ahead and do it. So now Safura is the only female celebrity in Azerbaijan who can play this tough instrument!

She had a dream team backing her on her way to Oslo, including some of the biggest names in the industry. For example she had the same choreographer as Beyonce!

"Thank you, guys, for everything – for all those comments and letters, for kind word of support, for unbreakable faith and for believing in me. You are my inspiration and I wouldn’t be on stage without you. It was amazing journey for me! I love you all and I thank you with all my heart!" she said in her MyEurovision blog.

What the fans thought?

"Congratulations Azerbaijan - This is a wonderful song sung by a wonderful singer. You really take the Eurovision Song Contest very serious and I thank you for that. Great quality songs each year!" said a fan from Ireland.

"Drip Drop is an amazing song...and beautifully sung by Safura!! Good luck Azerbaijan - I have a feeling this is your year." said another supporter from the United Kingdom.

After all those positive comments, you might've said it's a sign of them ending up high and… it did happen! She finished fifth in the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest with 145 points and placing second in the second Semi-Final, held two nights before.

This entry was way too over-rated, just like Armenia, Turkey and, surprisingly, Greece! They got top 10 spots like every other year with average songs :( Quality songs like Iceland which should have been top 5 and Sweden, not because it's my country but because the song was excellent, didn't even make it into the final?! Ukraine was under-rated and deserved a top 5 not a 10th place. Georgia should have placed higher too! Silly about the voting nowadays though :( Such a shame! report to the moderator

I meant that Azerbaijani jury can appricate good song unlike german jury (I guess you understant) İ didn't mean only 29 may when you watched to show. Before the semi-finals some germans tried to write comments against Safura and Azerbaijan. now I can remember only one, it seems berlin2010 or 2011. he had written some provocative comments about Azerbaijan. I meant guys like him.

and @ bianca it's very interesting that you read or remember only this paragraph. report to the moderator

Safura and her Drip Drop was only suitable entry for victory. And all Europe knew this fact as well. But this year we watched not to Eurovision, It was "economicvision". My aim isn't to say anything aganist Germany unlike germans .During the show they always tried to say something against Azerbaijan. Satellite was good song, but not the best one. and Lena, She is great actress. She "suprised" when she announced as winner. I hope to see fair ESC in 2011 like in 2009. report to the moderator

Bookmakers have already made several desicions that didn't go their way in 2010. Not just in Eurovision but in sport and other stuff. report to the moderator

Honestly, bookmakers played a dirty trick on this 17 year old girl. They knew she wasn't gonna win and that drip drop was not a winning material, but they gave her the highest odds, to make more money out of it...and it's sad seeing her hopes crush down to 5th place. I'm Armenian and I think that bookmakers were dirty asses. Anyway, I am proud that all 3 countries of Caucasus finished in top 10 and had memorable entries!! report to the moderator

i cant believe that she got 5th place, she was sooo awful as a singer, and the dancing was terrible! she was over rated as a singer to be honest... but oh well =/ report to the moderator
