Tonight was the grand evening in the popular Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins – and when Iceland decided, Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir came out on top with the ballad and fan-favourite Is It True. The full running order was as follows (winner in bold):

Kaja Halldórsdottir - Lygin Ein
Arnar, Edgar, Sverrir & Ólafur - Easy To Fool
Elektra - Got No Love
Jógvan Hansen - I Think The World Of You

After Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir, Ingó with Undir Regnbogann finished as the runner-up. Undir Regnbogann is co-written by Eurovision veteran Eiríkur Hauksson.

The final was broadcast on RÚV and on the Internet will, starting 21:05 CET. The show was hosted by Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir and Eva María Jónsdóttir, the same duo as in the semi-finals.

The 8 competing songs in the final in Iceland was decided from in total 16 semi-finalists competing in 4 semi-finals. The result was decided by televoting.

In the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 Iceland finished 14th with Euroband's This Is My Life. In Moscow, Iceland will compete in the first semi-final.

I voted for Euroband last year. I think Iceland has many talented singers. It will be very nice, if Iceland takes the first place in 2009 and all fans of Eurovision see this great show in Rekjavik!
