Sweden: Globen awaits Molly Sandén and E.M.D!
Tonight, the small town of Leksand saw the third semi-final of Sweden's most watched programme: Melodifestivalen 2009! More than 3 million viewers watched the first two episodes - an unbelievably high number bearing in mind that Sweden has just over 9 million inhabitants! The two lucky winners in tonight who got the highest number of televotes were Molly Sandén and E.M.D! They will join the already qualified Alcazar, Emilia, H.E.A.T and Måns Zelmerlöw in the grand final which will take place on the 14th of March in Stockholm's Globen Arena.
The third semi-final in Leksand offered a big variety of musical styles: from Velvet's dance-pop song via Maja Gullstrand's bossanova to BWO's electrogospel ballad, lots of choices were offered to the Swedish audience, but only two could directly qualify for the final (winners of this semi-final in bold):
- Velvet - The Queen
- Rigo & The Topaz Sound feat. Red Fox - I Got U
- Molly Sandén - Så Vill Stjärnorna
- E.M.D - Baby Goodbye
- Maja Gullstrand - Här För Mig Själv
- Mikael Rickfors - Du Vinner Över Mig!
- Sofia - Alla
- BWO - You're Not Alone
Not only the two televote winners could be happy, Rigo & The Topaz Sound feat. Red Fox and BWO had reason to smile too as they qualified for the so-called Second Chance round which will take part in exactly two weeks' time. Both will have another opportunity to qualify for the final then. The international jury picked Sofia's Alla tonight after they favoured Caroline af Ugglas and Amy Diamond in the previous two weeks. The jury will pick another song in next week's Malmö heat - the last of the four Semi-Finals - and will then decide which of the 4 elected songs will get the 11th spot in the final.
