Sarah Dawn Finer, Caroline af Ugglas and Sofia to Globen!
Tonight saw the last of five Swedish semi-finals for their national selection, the immensely popular Melodifestivalen! In contrast to the four semis before, this fifth one didn't include new songs, instead it featured those artists who had come 3rd and 4th respectively in the first four heats, thus getting a second chance to qualify. The 8 participating songs competed against each other in duels of two in two rounds of voting and the lucky ones winning both their duels were Sarah Dawn Finer and Caroline af Ugglas! Those two grabbed spot nine and ten for the grand final - and the 11th song - decided by an international jury tonight - will be Sofia!
In the first round of voting, people could decide about their favourites in four different duels. The winners of these progressed to the second round of voting (winners in bold):
- Scotts - Jag Tror På Oss vs. Sarah Dawn Finer - Moving On
- Lili and Susie - Show Me Heaven vs. BWO - You're Not Alone
- Amy Diamond - It's My Life vs. Star Pilots - Higher
- Rigo & The Topaz Sound feat. Red Fox - I Got U vs. Caroline af Ugglas - Snälla Snälla
The second round of voting consisted of two more duels and the winners of these advanced to the Globen final in Stockholm which will take place next Saturday (qualifiers for the Swedish final in bold):
- Sarah Dawn Finer - Moving On vs. Lili and Susie - Show Me Heaven
- Star Pilots - Higher vs. Caroline af Ugglas - Snälla Snälla
Sarah Dawn Finer and Caroline af Ugglas will join the already qualified Alcazar, Emilia, Måns Zelmerlöw, H.E.A.T, Molly Sandén, E.M.D, Agnes and Malena Ernman in the final. The 11th spot for the final was awarded to Sofia's Alla who was the international jury's choice. It will be the first time that the Swedish final has 11 songs in it. The winner in next week's final in Stockholm's Globen Arena will be decided by a mixture of jury vote and televote.
