Brussels,Belgium -

Today the Belgian song Copycat by Patrick Ouchène was presented. The singer is joined by the famous comics figure The Cat (Le Chat) in the official video.

RTBF's radio channels officially confirmed the selection of Patrick Ouchène for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow this morning. The singer gave a first reaction on RTBF's radio news broadcasts this morning, according to the Belgian fan site Belgovision.com.

"Many people will think it's kitsch and ridiculous, but I think that this is a big opportunity to give media exposure to the music style I'm bringing," the 43 year-old French rockabilly singer said. "I'll have two missions: represent Belgium and defend this music style."

Watch the Copycat video clip below:

Belgium will participate in the First Semi-Final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest on 12th of May.

Great song. Elvis-theme really works. I wish at least Belgium gets to the Finals, but Spain will probably win this year...

After listening to this song a few times, I'm starting to like it. But... most people will hear it only once, and Belgium is performing as third in the half final, so I'm afraid chances are small that Belgium will go through to the next round. Though I myself am from Belgium, my 12 points go to... Norway!

dumtektek, I think you should vote for Belgium, because Hadise is actually from Belgium, and you should say which countries you like, and not always say that Turkey is the best. Let everybody find it out for themselves.

I like this rockabilly number, it doesn't matter if he's from Belgium, Ireland, Britain or wherever. You can tell Patrick loves singing rockabilly, he puts his heart and soul in the song. A very catchy number and he deserves to be in the final.

The UK usually is heralded for it's sense of humour but if that's the case Belgium is certainly second. The Belgians certainly have a sense for giving popmusic a certain twist. Always had actually, remember the brilliant Marc Moulin with Telex (may he rest in peace) and what to think of Pas de Deux. Alas they also have a knack for being misunderstood by the rest of Europe. I'm afraid this is gonna be the case again but don't worry, in true Belgian style i suspect they don't care.

PS: if you're interested in Flemish or Wallonian pop see: http://www.europopmusic.eu/Belgium_pages/Belgium_home.html

I agree you can't vote fpr your country on the night - however, I put United Kingdom in foirst place because I think it is the best of the songs shown so far, by a long way. At the moment I will be voting for Belgium on the night, and probably Portugal aswell. However, it is interesting because the performance of a song on the night can affect peoples opinions a lot - see Sweden last year......

Well well well...another Elvis copy....but now in Eurovision. I have to sat that they have made work of it. Releasing the song ánd the clip ánd a website. That`s good work!
Although not original, this song is quite different than all the other euro disco songs, so that`s good.
Televoters will remember this song.
For me....up to the Finale!
Go Belgium go!!!!!
