Stockholm, Sweden -

First entries for the Swedish national selection for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest have been announced. Three of the chosen artists are new to the scene of Europe's favourite TV-show, one is a veteran.

Lasse Stefanz will compete with En Blick Och Något Händer, Pernilla Andersson is set to take part with the song Desperados, Linda Bengtzing sings E De Fel På Mig and Swingfly with the song called Me And My Drum.

Lasse Stefanz has been around since 1967, but has not been involved in the Eurovision Song Contest before. So hasn't Pernilla Andersson nor Swingfly, but for Linda Bengtzing it's the fourth time she's involved with Europe's favourite TV-show.

Bengtzing's song has been co-written by Thomas G:son, who also co-wrote the Swedish entry for this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest and the Danish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010 - In A Moment Like This.

"These four artists showcases the musical range that Melodifestivalen seeks and has always striven. From someone who perhaps never even thought about being in the competition to someone who really loves the competition format and wants to continue to fight for a place in the Eurovision Song Contest," said Christer Björkman, competition producer of Melodifestivalen 2011.

The Swedish national selection, Melodifestivalen, is the biggest music event in Scandinavia and one of the most popular national selections for Europe's favourite TV-show.

In 2010, Anna Bergendahl represented Sweden with the song This Is My Life but finished 11th in the second Semi-Final,thus just missking out from the Grand Final.
