28-year old Hovig will represent Cyprus in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Gravity. Hovig is a singer songwriter of Armenian origin, born in Cyprus in 1989. At the age of 16, he started performing in various clubs and began making a name for himself among the artistic community in Cyprus. In 2009 Hovig participated in The X Factor Greece and in 2010 and 2015 he tried to represent his country in the Eurovision Song Contest. Last year broadcaster CyBC announced that they had selected him for the 2017 contest.

When asked about his song, Hovig replies: "I think Gravity is as modern and catchy as it gets." Hovig also hints that there may be a surprise or two in Kyiv in terms of the way in which the song will be staged, citing this as one of the more interesting aspects of his entry.

Hovig is upbeat and looking forward to the 2017 contest. "I can still dream and see the bright side of everything, I am passionate with any project that I work on", he said.
