Oslo presented as 2010 Host City, Final on 29 May
Oslo, Norway -

The 55th running of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in the Oslo area, Host Broadcaster NRK and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) jointly announced today. The two Semi-Finals of the contest are now confirmed to take place on Tuesday 25 May and Thursday 27 May, the Grand Final on Saturday 29 May, 2010. A venue to host the competition is still to be chosen.

Traditionally, the winning country hosts the next edition of the contest. Preparations for the 2010 running of the contest took off as soon as Norway was declared winner of the competition. "It is a great honour for NRK to host the Eurovision Song Contest once again. Together with our colleagues of the EBU we are determined to organise this event in line with the highest standards," said Hans-Tore Bjerkaas, Chief Executive of NRK. The Norwegian broadcaster hosted the Eurovision Song Contest before in 1986 and 1996, and hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2004.

"Enormous production"

"We are looking forward to work with NRK on this enormous production. One year from now, they will have the opportunity to show Europe and the world what they are capable of," said Svante Stockselius, Executive Supervisor of the contest on behalf of the EBU.

Norway's Fairytale

Norway's Alexander Rybak won the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with unprecedented support from across Europe, which resulted in a 169-point lead over runners-up Iceland. Rybak's self-penned song Fairytale is well underway to become a pan-European hit. The 23-year old winner is currently travelling across the continent to promote his winning song and his forthcoming album Fairytales.

About NRK

Founded in 1933, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, better known as NRK, is Norway's largest media house. Every day 86 percent of all Norwegians use NRK's programme offering, whether on TV, the radio, the Internet or mobile phones. Some 3,400 people work at NRK, which is one of the founding members of the EBU.

where are you from usrboss? obviously, you are just jealous that norway is such a better country than yours, probably some iron curtain country.

I personally think Norway will do a way better job of hosting than Russia or any other eastern bloc. Norway is one of the richest countries that participates in ESC, if not, THE richest.

usrboss u i*iot, if you like hookers so much, why don't you just go to one of the streets of your town and get some or may be you can just go to Amsterdam's red light street. You can even get a job there, probably:))))))
Just because your country didn't win Eurovision, doesn't mean you can wright insulting things about other countries.

Well Norway is one of the richest countries in the world (we've got oil) and has a very high standard of living. Much higher than Russia for example. Norway tops the list of the best countries in the world to live in and the ESC budget is not a problem for Norway. Quite what your point is about the hookers is beyond me, but show me a city in the world that doesn't have hookers! A majority of the girls working the streets are foreigners and some are victims of human trafficking so I fail to see the funny side of that. Obviously as the capital of one of the richest countries in the world Oslo attracts this kind of problem. However it is not something that I notice day to day around Oslo.
The venue still hasn't been chosen just the host city, and that's all down to logistics but the Telenor Arena actually takes more people than the Olympiyski in Moscow. It probably took the Russioans 4 months to find a buiding that was not about to blow up or fall down.

It was problem in Russia last year - they were thinking for nearly four months where to hold the contest - it took Norway less than a week! LOL
In fact - Iceland are happy they didn't win the contest!! - - would have needed a new arena! ) LOL

@ usrboss
you should be condescending
the total population of Norway is less then half of Moscow some whore around - some went to catch fish to budget Eurovision - there's still a year left

usrboss, you really need to stop w/ that spam comment you keep posting about Oslo. WTF is your problem?!

Anyway, I think this should be exciting! Hopefully it'll be better than this year. I'm so glad to see the contest going to Norway :) And the dates actually work out perfectly for me because my exams are actually the week before that, or two weeks... don't know.

It is very sad to hear about the final will be on 29 may next year

today it's only 27 may so still 367 days to the final
it's to late the final will be held

It could be better on 15 may and also it could be cool that some of the turist could wait until 17 may
so they could party with norway on there national day :- )

But i think i will be there in OSLO 2010 if dont have to many homeworks to do at that time HAHA :- D

who cares about the dates. most people have jobs that would not let people take vacations at that time, so what?:)) as long as the contest is in the happy zone finally and hopefully with no scandals:) Go Oslo, you rock!
P.S. in the previous article somebody commented on Oslo. If everybody can hit the Report botton on him, it would be nice. Thank you!
