Düsseldorf, Germany -

Yesterday, a press conference with the organisers of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest - the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) - took place in Düsseldorf revealing lots of interesting facts about this year's contest and the future of it.

For the second time in a day Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, Jon Ola Sand plus the 2011 Executive Producer Show Thomas Schreiber faced the assembled journalists and fans. They were joined by Executive Producer Event; Ralf Quibeldey and EBU Event Supervisor; Sietse Bakker.

Jon Ola Sand reminded the audience that he had been involved in the contest in various capacities since 1998, and has only missed two in that period, and has seen the event grow and change from the 25 nations in 1998 to the record breaking 43 countries in 2008 and 2011. Though in effect it was the biggest contest ever with the number of journalists and the number of spectators in the arena. He expressed how impressed he had been with the overall logistics of the whole event, and from the EBU view he was very happy with what NDR had done.

Thomas Schreiber announced that around 16,500 people attended the First Semi-Final, and that with the Second Semi-Final he expects a slightly larger attendance of closer to 18,000. The Final is almost sold out, but there are still a few tickets available.

Familiar faces

He once again welcomed Italy back to the Eurovision family in his first year in charge, as well as Austria, San Marino and Hungary. He emphasised that he is looking for the contest not necessarily to become bigger and bigger but to be better and better and to be at the cutting edge of world class television.

There will be some other familiar faces around the contest this year, apart from the two winners who are actively competing this year, Lena and Dana International. There will be more previous winners attending than at any other contest, including Lys Assia, Johnny Logan, Sandra Kim, Olsen Brothers and Alexander Rybak.

The changes to the order for the voting sequence were also announced. You can read more about that in our interview with Jon Ola Sand. He also confirmed at the conference that the iconic 12 points will remain in place.

Sietse Bakker expressed that the Eurovision Song Contest was more than just a television show, by the fact that there was almost a record number of fans and journalists using the press centre. The event extends to the online activity, transportation, hotels and sponsorships; so now those responsibilities have been split up and each can focus on their different areas.

The winner will be a song coming from a land with good neighborhood...
    Scansdinavians vote for Sacndinavia...
    Greece votes for Cyprus
    Cyprus votes for Greece
Formers Republics of Yugoslavia vote for their neighbours.

This contest will be killed by nationalism. Too much flags...

Stop this mode of vote !!

Some years I find so many songs that I really enjoy, it’s hard to land on a favourite, this year… not so much…

I have graded the different countries and so far given out one 10 – 12 points, one 10 points, one 8 points, one 7 points, three 6 points, eight 5 points, ten 4 points, nine 3 points, seven 2 points and two 1 points...

My hope is that by the time the show starts most if not all of the technical problems will be sorted out to ensure a smooth and fair competition.

Good luck to all the contestants! report to the moderator

    We are investigating irregularities
EBU announced that on Tuesday sent the scores all the countries in the form of combined votes of viewers and judges. However, many providers are comments that the public vote is not progressing properly. In Poland, the viewers have not received a mandatory text message back from the operator, while for example in the UK and Hungary voting in Poland was more difficult. And here the place for an appeal to readers of the Official Eurovision. Does anyone have contact with people from abroad who could not cast their ballots against Poland on Tuesday (due to eg the rejection of the voting system problems with voting problems, sound)? If so, ask for urgent contact e-mail [email protected] or call 600 097 560 Thank you for any information on this issue! report to the moderator

This is how we see this whole situation - 2 of us + 12 our friends - we are together watched this ESC semis.
Well, for Armenia - you always have good entrances but this time... here in Serbia we have an excellent sound from Germany and your girl she didn't sings good at all, I do not know maybe she was ill but her team could sold that with back vocals, and the song was not so good either, Poland also - girl screams at the of the song and she sang that part of song terrible - well maybe in this case monitoring (and this happens every year to someone) was bad but it was no good too. You must remember there is more people who didn' see this entrances before - semis was the first presentation for all of them and the performance is very important - nobody cares if they can sing good at home. So sad about you but we really hope that you'll be more lucky next year. We are still sad 'cause Turkey and Cyprus are not in the final:((( report to the moderator

The Best songs are not QUALIFIED.
    i COULDNT LISTEN FOR 35min not 30.
    I didnt listen Poland,Norway,Albania,Armenia,Turkey.

If the first-semi final is not repeated Art Music and all other state music production will make an agreement to abandon EUROVISION 2012.

we've already heard that Poland and some other countries dont want to vote, because YOU ARE THE POLITICS,NOT ART!

WE DIDNT SEE ART and MUSIC ,we saw POLITICS.

REPEAT THE FIRST SEMI FINAL!.. report to the moderator

It has long been known that Eurovision is a scam. Now it is about money and politics and not about the song. At the beginning is already determined who will win. Yet in addition falsify the results and close the line for early voting for some countries. As best as year, most countries give up Eurovision will not be anyone to sing report to the moderator
