Minsk, Belarus -

BRTC has just announced a new winner to represent Belarus in Baku. It’s Litesound with their song We Are The Heroes!

Today BRTC has announced a new participant for Baku. Litesound who won the jury's voting on the 14th of February will represent their country in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. The band will rock the stage with their song We Are The Heroes!

Litesound is a Minsk band, performing pop-rock in English. The band comprises the two brothers Dmitry and Vladimir Karyakin plus Jacopo Massa, Italian singer who lives in Italy. The band started in 2002 in the form of an acoustic duet by Dmitry (vocal) and Vladimir (guitar, coauthor). In winter 2004 Sergey Grinko (drums) and Mario Gulinsky (bass guitar) joined the band, changing it into a quartet, and started to perform in Belarus. And the current shape of the band, a trio, exists since 2006.

They have taken part in the national elimination rounds for Eurovision in 2006, 2007, 2008 where the band placed among the top five performers (2nd in 2008). Litesound have also reached high places with their songs in the domestic charts and they can count on several international awards:

  • Victory at the contest “MOVA songwriters’ competition” (USA, 2002)
  • Victory at the “Modern Rock Bands Competition” (China, 2002)
  • I prize at an international contest in Italy, 2006
  • A diploma (for Dmitry Kariakin) at the vocalists’ contest “World songs” (Moldova, 2007)

The song We Are The Heroes is written by the pair of brothers Dmitry and Vladimir Kariakin. Belarus will compete in the Second Semi-Final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest on the 24th of May in Baku.

I think Litesound did a great job on the night and their performance and the song was much better than some of the countries that got through to the final.

It was a shame they didn't get through but I think it's down to the voting system again, and that Eurovision really do need to look at the voting systems again to try to iron out the political voting that is still evident in the contest.

You guys have the look and the enthusiasm to take on the world, however I think the song lacks that winning edge.. Get a song that one wants to sit up and take notice of... Not the mediocre tune you sang here.. Too much repetition and a melody that has died years ago.... Saying that I wish Belarus the very best and go out there and slay the crowd! report to the moderator

michemiche!! Nobody replaces the winner in Belarus! Everybody knows that Lukashenko likes Aljona Lanskaja a lot. .. Really a lot haha... So i think if she would even go to Eurovision - nobody would believe she won...Well, she didn't. As her fake winning on Slavjanskij bazar in Vitebsk and then fake "honoured artist of Belarus". That Lukashenko did now is definitly his personal way to show he is a good president. But he is not.

Of course, tastes differ, and everyone should choose his own favourite song to vote for. :)

But I would like to say "thanks" in advance, to those people who liked our choice, wish us good luck and perhaps will send an sms to support our band. By this, you will not only appreciate the song, but at the same time help us to prove that belorussian people from all their hearts know better, than a group of professionals with their minds :) report to the moderator
