Stockholm, Sweden -

Today, Swedish national broadcaster SVT announced that popular singer/songwriter Salem Al Fakir will be awarded a wildcard for the 2010 Melodifestivalen, the hugely popular Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Salem Al Fakir learned to play violin at the age of four and toured Russia as a solo violinist at the age of fourteen, but returned to Sweden to study jazz piano.

In 2006, Salem released his first single, the Dream Girl EP, and his debut album was released in January 2007 to commercial success and critical acclaim. The album was recorded in Salem's basement and bedroom, and he was solely responsible for writing, mixing and producing the album. In 2009, he released his second album Astronaut.

Apart from numerous other awards, Salem Al Fakir was nominated in seven categories for the Swedish Grammis in 2008. The categories were: best album / newcomer / producer / male artist / song / composer / lyricist. He won four of these awards, for best male artist, best newcomer, best composer and best producer.

Salem Al Fakir will perform Keep On Walking in Melodifestivalen 2010 which was written and composed by himself.
