Tie for tenth place in Second Semi-Final!

Baku, Azerbaijan -

Some information has been released by the EBU regarding the results of the Second Semi-Final, and for the first time since the Semi-Final format was introduced, there was a tie for tenth place in last night's edition of Europe's Favourite TV Show.

With two songs tying for tenth place in the Second Semi-Final, under the current rules of the contest the song that received votes from the most number of countries is deemed to take the higher position. If that also turned out to be an identical number, then a countback system of the number of 12 points, the 10 points etc would come into consideration.

Six out of ten songs agreed by juries and televoters

The results of the Second Semi-Final also showed a greater difference between the juries and the televoters than with the First Semi-Final on Tuesday.

Last night saw the jures and televoters agree on six of the ten songs that qualified for the Final. Of the other four songs, two were put through to the Final thanks to the juries, and two were saved thanks to the votes from the televoters.

Since Semi-Finals were introduced in 2004, there has always been a clear cut top ten every year. However last year saw the closest results so far, when in both Semi-Finals the tenth and eleventh places were separated by a single point. Last night saw a first for the record books with the tie-break rule being used for the first time.

The full voting results of the Semi-Finals will be revealed shortly after the Final on eurovision.tv.

Macedonia has the best singer at this year Eurovision in Kaliopi. :-)

Just listen to her voice. She is an educated musician that can sing classical opera pieces. It shows in this song too. Try to find some of her other songs too on youtube like the song Bato for example.

Good luck to all singers tonight!!

Go Macedonia !!!! report to the moderator

I was extremely disappointed that Slovenia didn't qualify, but not just because of our country, but because I think Eva really deserved it. For me, she was one of my favourites in the 2. semi-final. Too bad. Sometimes it's also a bit of bad luck. Maybe we'll have more good luck next year? :) report to the moderator

It was Slovenia and Bosnia (saved by televoting). Bosnia's strong diaspora disqualified Slovenia. I am sure that Slovenia gave 10 points to Bosnia and it returned 4. Thank to Bosnians that live in Slovenia and blame voting system... report to the moderator

What's that "HelloThereEurope"? The Netherlands amongst the best 2?? You're Joking, right?
They were the worst by a long way - an absolutely dreadful song.
Closely followed by Turkey. They were clearly saved by the judges - a political decision. report to the moderator

I hope it was neither The Netherlands nor Slovakia who were eliminated by such a slim margin.

I think it was shocking that both of them didn't get through anyway. In my opinion there were far inferior entries that made it. So unfair. report to the moderator

The results of the 2nd semi-final were disappointing. Bosnia & Lithuania were the worst 2 competing and Slovenia & The Netherlands were the best 2 (other than Sweden), yet the opposite results happened :'( report to the moderator

I'm so sorry for Netherlands, such a pretty, shiny song...
Portugal too, although I am not the fan of fado, was worth final - just for that authentic sence.
Macedonia was not that impressive to get to the final. It was some kind of surrogat-rock for me, not enough energy.
Slovakia was much better in rock-sence!
Also sorry for Georgia, Bulgarian lady was also very original, strong, catching (maybe the dress a bit too shy for that kindof music, but the song itself - kind of a killer).

But finally, I keep being happy for LITHUANIA, amazing charming boy Donatas Montivdas, and our Baltic-brothers ESTONIA with beautiful ballad, and UKRAINE - just for real drive, hot bright song, which I think should gain high position in the final.

Loreen from Sweden - well, very professional, very contemporary, very worth to be mentioned, but I think Europe doesn't need any prototipe of Lady Gaga here. Anyway, shežs a good product and mature artist. No surprize if she wins. report to the moderator

12 points for malta report to the moderator
  • Posted on 26 May 2012 at 10:06
noone votes for malta, and they always have the best songs of the eurovision.. lets face it, people are blinded with the name of the country and not with the song, they vote for their favourite country... this year malta passed because of the fair jury that realised the beauty of the Maltese song report to the moderator
