Brussels, Belgium -

As previously rumoured, broadcaster RTBF have confirmed to Eurovision.tv that Roberto Bellarosa will be representing Belgium in Malmö in May. Details of the national selection to follow.

We previously reported on rumours that Roberto Bellarosa - winner of the first edition of The Voice Belgique - will represent Belgium in Malmö in May. Now broadcaster RTBF have confirmed this to us, originally planning to release this news on the 20th of November at a press conference.

Roberto Bellarosa is relatively new to the music scene having won the first edition of the popular talent show The Voice Belgique. Earlier this year he released an album entitled Ma voie including the single Je crois.

When asked about his participation at the Eurovision Song Contest next year, Leslie Cable from RTBF told us:

"The choice of Roberto Bellarosa was obvious to us as he is the winner of The Voice Belgique, a talent competition based on high quality. The icing on the cake, in the opinion of lots of people from the professional world of music, is that Roberto does have an exceptional voice".

Details of how a song for Roberto will be chosen will be revealed at a press conference hosted by RTBF on the 20th of November. We will revert with more information as we get it!

    If RTBF wants to reach the ESC final next year, I think they have made a good one by choosing Roberto Bellarosa. I hope the song election would be as adequate as well. I agree with MjdWTRocks from USA, that a bilingual song in English and French would be a great choice for the song. I can't wait! :D report to the moderator

    I'm not a huge Voice fan because I think alot of the contestants lack charisma and stage presence, plus they're a bit boring. However, I don't mind Bellarosa's voice and I'm hoping he'll give us a decent song sung bilingually in French. I hope 2013 will be the year that The Netherlands and Belgium both qualify. :) report to the moderator

    @SHi95 United Kingdom ESC
    Not all Albanians, Lithuanians, Turks and other people from Eastern Europe vote for each other. In 2010, for example, Belgium qualified to the final and my country gave him 7 points. If you think that Belgium and the Netherlands never qualify because of Eastern countries, so why UK, France, Germany never give them high points? I am from Lithuania and I always vote for my favourite songs, not for countries (btw, usually i like western European songs) :) I'm sure that the Netherlands will qualify this year because they sent a really tallented and famous singer. If i like her song, l'll vote for her, and many eastern Europeans will. But Belgium did a big mistake sending Roberto Bellarosa to Malmö, I think. report to the moderator

    Turkey, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Bosnia Hezergovina will prevent Belgium and The Netherlands Qualifying in May 2013, and We'll inevitably see the usaul qualifyers in the final once again... Eurovision is just becoming one predictable and controversial farse! report to the moderator

    For Gods sake would 'Eastern' Europe give Belgium and The Netherlands a chance, I'm sick of them being underated year after year, when there are times they both send realy good stuff, Roberto looks current and charismatic so maybe Belgium may have a chance, although I would perfer them to have sent the Young, Contemporary tallented Ian Thomas, Belgiums answer to Justin Bieber and Connor Maynard. in 2014 I'd love Belgium to send him and The Netherlands to send Ralf Mackenbach. report to the moderator

    NO. I think Belgium won't qualify to the final (again). And Flemish broadcaster usually sends much better songs! report to the moderator
