Today, Romanian broadcaster TVR announced details of their national selection for 2013. In past years they have had a lot of success at the Eurovision Song Contest. Can they keep this momentum going?

From tomorrow broadcaster TVR will open for the submission of entries to their national final, entitled: Selecţia Naţională.

The following details have been announced so far:

  • 14.01 - 03.02: Registration and submission of entries.
  • 06.02 - 14.02: Auditions at TVR studios all over Romania.
  • 18.02: Announcement of Semi-Final line-ups. Minimum of 24 entries, maximum of 28.
  • 23.02: Semi-Final 1.
  • 24.02: Semi-Final 2.
  • 09.03: National Final

This year for the first time, artists from all over Romania are able to submit their entries to local offices of TVR, thereby facilitating access to the competition to many more people.

Romania has had a lot of success in the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years and hopes to continue this success in Malmö in May. In Baku, Mandinga with their song Zaleilah came a respectable 12th place in the Grand Final of the 2012 edition of Europe's favourite TV show.

This year in Malmö, Romania will take part in one of the two Semi-Finals taking place on the 14th and 16th of May. The Grand Final takes place on the 18th of May.
