The second semi-final of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2010, the Icelandic selection for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest has just finished and two more acts proceeded to the final: Jógvan Hansen and Hvanndalsbræður!

Last week Íris Hólm and Matthías Matthíasson won their ticket to the final. Five new songs were taking part in tonight's second heat and the two lucky ones that got the highest number of televotes will join Íris and Matthías in the final on Saturday 6th of February (qualifiers in bold):

  • Menn Ársinns - Gefst Ekki Upp
  • Hvanndalsbræður - Gleði Og Glens
  • Sigrún Vala - I Believe In Angels
  • Jógvan Hansen - One More Day
  • Edgar Smári - Now And Forever

Three of tonight's participants are no strangers to the Icelandic final: Menn Ársinns, Jógvan Hansen and Edgar Smári all participated before.

Next Saturday, the last semi-final will take place and the whole line-up of the final will be summed up in a special show the following week on the 30th of January.

Iceland has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1986, but has yet to win the contest. The country came second twice though, the first time in 1999 with Selma's All Out Of Luck in Jerusalem and also last year with Yohanna's Is It True? which later became a big hit in various European countries.
