Oslo, Norway -

After a month of semi-finals and a second chance round, followed by tonight's spectacular final and voting sequence, Didrik Solli-Tangen has won the right to represent Norway at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with the song My Heart Is Yours!

Tonight, the final of one of Europe's most popular national selections was held at the Spektrum Arena in the centre Oslo, where eight artists competed for the right to represent Norway in the Final of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.

The spectacular show was full of excitement with a special focus on the history of the Norwegian selection (or Melodi Grand Prix as it's known). After Alexander Rybak's astounding victory in Moscow last year tonight's selection was even more special! Artists such as 1985 winners Elisabeth Andreassen & Hanne Krough (Bobbysocks) and 1985 and 1995 winning composer Rolf Løvland were in the hall. Also, the man himself, mister Rybak was in Spektrum to give his support! By the way - did you notice who he was cheering for?

In order to choose Norway's song, three semi-finals were held in the towns of Ørland, Bodø and Skien, where two songs qualified directly to the final and a further two qualified to a second chance round. This round was held in the town of Sarpsborg where two songs qualified to the final.

Of the eight songs on stage tonight, four qualified via televote to a so-called Super-Final. From here four expert juries from the four semi-final host cities casted their votes followed by the regional televoting results. This wielded a landslide victory for Didrik Solli-Tangen and his song My Heart Heart Is Yours. However, Didrik's victory wasn't as big as Alexander Rybak's in 2009 who attracted a record number of votes, both at the Norwegian final and at the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.

The following acts qualified for the second round (or superfinale). The winner is in bold:

  • Bjørn Johan Muri - Yes Man
  • Didrik Solli-Tangen - My Heart Is Yours
  • Keep of Kalessin - Dragontower
  • A1 - Don't Want To Lose You Again

Didrik Solli-Tangen's song had been one of the favourites to win Melodi Grand Prix since he appeared on stage in Skien two weeks ago. Other acts such as A1, Keep of Kalessin and Maria Haukaas Storeng were also in the running. Now Didrik has the huge task of representing his native Norway on home turf, where expectations will be running high!

As the host country, Norway is directly qualified to the Final of Europe's favourite television show to be held on the 29th of May at the Telenor Arena in Oslo. Will this be another victory for them? Time will tell.

My favourite participant of MGP 2010 was Maria Haukaas Storeng. Her song, Make My Day was great, but she couldn't even pass to the Super Final. I can't believe it.
Norway really couldn't make a good choice this year.

This is a very beautiful song and the singer has a wonderful voice. The whole thing feels very Josh Groban. Lykke til, Norge :P

In English, sorry: I am Spanish and I think this year Spain was in a better position than last year because this year can send to Coral with the song''In a Life.'' Good luck to our rivals.

Yo soy español y creo que este año España quedara en mejor posición que el año pasado, ya que este año posiblemente enviemos a Coral con la canción ''En una vida''. Buena suerte a nuestros rivales.

OMG. C'min, Norway, seriously? I was hoping for A1 or Bjorn Johan Muri, but this? I can't stand this song, but I guess since Norway's in the final already, I say it'll finish below 10th place, but since people love it (and I don't understand why), good luck, Norway.

this song is sooo boring for me, I can see most people like it, so I think it will end up aroun 10th position

I knew Norway had a winner when I heard just a small sample of this song, during my skitrip to Norway couple of weeks back... And it's true, he is the European version of Josh Groban, and whatever comes out of that can only be considered a winner! I fell in love with this young man's (sorry my age) amazing voice and I'm sure it will get a high position at the Eurovision Finals (cause he will make it to the finals) on May 29 when the big show goes off.

Norway you picked the right winner! I've seen all your candidates in their Semi-finals and he outshined them all. Thank you! Can't wait to see what you pull off at your big show in Oslo. :-)

I knew it!
Honestly, on first listen to Didrik's song, I didn't like it because it was too...simple, and yes quite boring. But after watching his strong on-stage performance, I like it very much. I think this song is the best choice considering the line-up. A1 probably won't do well on Eurovision. Maria has a very boring song this year. Keep of Kalessin is only OK. Venke's song is cute but I don't think it would win most audience. Didrik simply stuns!
I believe he will do really well on Eurovision. Congratulations Norway!
