Baarn, the Netherlands -

Sieneke (17) will represent the Netherlands at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with Ik Ben Verliefd (Shalalie). That was the conclusion of tonight's Nationaal Songfestival. She will perform in the second Semi-Final on the 27th of May, as determined during today's Semi-Final Allocation Draw.

Earlier this year, Dutch television announced Pierre Kartner as song writer and composer of the Dutch 2010 entry. He wrote Ik Ben Verliefd (Shalalie), which each of the five contestants was asked to produce in their own style. For the first time since 1998, the Dutch entry will be performed in Dutch.

Sieneke (coached by Marianne Weber) gave a typical Dutch performance of the song, featuring organ and accordeon sounds, Vinzzent (coached by Grad Damen) chose for a summer sound. Loekz, consisting of Jezebel, Elske, Merel, Dessa(lee), Esra and Martine (coached by Frans Bauer) went for a strong choreography and a more Arabic sound. The sound track of Peggy Mays (coached by Albert West) was build around the flute track and the backing vocals. Marlous (coached by Corry Konings) went for an act with Spanish influences.

Radio DJ Daniël Dekker, singer and actress Tatjana Simic, singer George Baker, and 'Mr Eurovision' Johnny Logan each had a 20 percent stake in the decision. The studio audience also had a 20 percent stake.

  • Sieneke (2 votes)
  • Loekz (2 votes)
  • Vinzzent (audience vote)
After a tie, composer Pierre Kartner was supposed to make up his mind to pick the Dutch contestant for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Initially, Pierre Kartner refused to choose the winner of the show. After long hesitation and strict instructions from the producer, he chose Sieneke to sing his song Ik Ben Verliefd, Shalalie.

Last year, The Toppers with their song Shine didn't get further than a 17th place in the second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Could have been ok if it were 1983 but it´s not so this is awful! Prepare missing the final by a broad margin.
You must have better music to send?

I think she is a talented singer, but i don't like this song. you can compare it to all the other national selection winners so far. most are better than this! http://wiwibloggs.com/2010/01/30/eurovision-2010-finlands-kuunkuiskaajat-with-tyolki-ellaa/

Not the worst Netherlands song, certainly better than last years, "Shine". I think Sieneke was the definately the best singer to choose from the selection. Congratulations, see you in Oslo.

OMG :O. And my vote this year goes to....................... GREECE............. again :S.

Always we complain 'Eurovision it's unfair, points are not given fair, they keep others high BLA BLA BLA YADDA YADDA YADDA' But FFS look what we send :S. No offence to the singer, she can't help it. But my goodness. This is embarracing big time.

It will be watching Eurovision with my fiancee..... from Greece :p. And zapping fast when this song comes.

Even the smurfsong would have been better to send :(((((
