Stockholm, Sweden -

Next year in April, it will be exactly 40 years since ABBA’s song Waterloo won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. As millions of their fans wonder, how will members of Swedish legendary band, celebrate this Eurovision milestone, Agnetha Fältskog, one of the singers, does not exclude the reunion in 2014.

Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Super Trouper, SOS, Waterloo – those are some of the hits that made a Swedish pop quartet one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music. In an interview for German press (Welt am Sonntag), one of the two female ABBA singers, Agnetha Fältskog, reveals that the reunion of the band next year could be possible. “Sure, we do think about it”, Agnetha said.

Four decades since Eurovision victory

In April 2014, it will be four decades, since the 19th Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton or Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson, which is how we called Europe’s Favourite TV Show back then. Seventeen countries took part, but the song that ABBA performed for Sweden, won the contest and opened the path to worldwide fame for Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.

“There are plans about doing something for that anniversary, but I still don’t know what will come out of it in the end. On the other hand, I do not want to know about it that precisely in this very moment”, the 63-year-old Swedish pop singer explained. “If such event is being planed and I knew all the details in advance, then I would be thinking about it all the time. That would take way too much of life energy.”

In other words, Fältskog does not want to be focused on this anniversary so much, she would rather let it happen. “Not thinking about it – just doing it”, Agnetha underlined.

She is currently promoting her fifth studio album "A" in English (tenth overall). But, even that her voice still sounds young and fresh, Agnetha (in some countries also known as Anna) believes that the age plays a big role in what is going to happen too. “Time is ticking, we are getting older. I can not imagine ourselves going on the stage with the stick”, Fältskog explained in an interview for Welt am Sonntag.

"ABBA is still a big part of all of us!"

It seems that the relations between members of the Eurovision’s most successful band are apparently getting better in the recent years. However, instead of answering directly, Agnetha shared the following story: “Lately, I dream quite often about other ABBA members. Those are good dreams. They seem to be a part of the process that we could call ice-breaking moment. After all, ABBA is still a big part of all of us”, she said.

Her new album “A” released this spring for Universal, after ten year break, appeared on the charts in several European countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and UK). Nevertheless, for the 22nd of November, a Deluxe edition is going to be published in Europe as well. It will also include one-hour documentary called “ABBA and after”.

Having lived through the best decade for music in the 1970s/80's with such sounds as Abba, The Osmonds, Bay City Rollers to name a few. I think it would be great if Abba did a one off, I never got to see them at the height of their careers, so I would most definitely love to attend a reunion. I realise that they wouldn't want to wear their old stage outfits and nobody would expect them to, but just to hear them perform one more time would be awesome to say the least. I have seen a few Abba cover bands who have been very good, but to see the real Abba would be better. Hope the band will see these comments and have a heart. Agnetha still has an awesome voice, haven't heard the others, but hey, everyones' voice changes to some degree as they age. If Paul McCartney can still hit the spot at 72 and still draw the crowds, I certain that Abba could too :) report to the moderator

I might also add that it would be great if Benny and Bjorn finished their last song they worked on together, "Just Like That" and performed it live and complete. report to the moderator

If ABBA agreed to a reunion ticket sales would SKYROCKET! People would pay thousands of Euro's just to see them live up on stage one last time. I think it would be FANTASTIC! To hear Agnetha saying she's now open to the idea is incredible since she has been the one all along preventing it. Frida has already said in the past she's game and as for Benny and Bjorn, I'm pretty sure they would follow suit. Cross your fingers this actually comes to fruit. report to the moderator

I would love to see a documentary on the band on the 6th April 2014. In that documentary I would like to see all the members re-record "Waterloo" in the studio, and for it to be released as an official last single ever by the group. It seems fitting to me. report to the moderator
