Amir is the French choice for Stockholm!

France 2 confirmed that Amir will represent France with his song "J’ai cherché"

Today French public broadcaster France 2 has announced the singer Amir as the French representative in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. His song J’ai cherché has been aired on the major radio stations in France and has already become a hit.

In the Grand Final of 14th May, Amir will sing his debut single J’ai cherché, a catchy and modern pop song with electronic beats. J’ai cherché means I Have Been Looking For in English. It contains English lyrics in the chorus. It was written by Amir, Nazim Khaled and Johan Errami. Amir's entry is released by Warner Music France. Now, J’ai cherché is being aired on the major radio stations in France and has already become a hit. He will perform his song live on The DiCaire Show on 12th March.

Amir is extremely honoured to sing for France in the 61st Eurovision Song Contest: "I am so proud and flattered to represent my country, France, at this epic song contest that celebrates all cultures of the large European family", Amir said, moved by this announcement. "I watch the Eurovision Song Contest every year. It was my childhood dream to participate in the show. Trust me, I will give more than I can to make everyone proud of our performance", he added.

Who is Amir?

After being a dental surgeon, Amir started a professional singing carrer at the age of 29. Since he was a child he has dreamt of performing on stage and always had the ambition to become an artist. He was scouted to participate in the popular TV talent show The Voice in 2014, where he reached the final. His warm and generous Mediterranean voice carries emotions from different cultures. After this experience Amir participated in the second edition of Forever Gentlemen who topped the French charts but he never stopped working on his first album.

Assisted by a gifted team of writers, composers and producers (Skydancers, Nazim Khaled, Silvio Lisbonne, Kyo, Bionix, John Mamann, etc.), who all strongly believed in the project from the very first day, Amir signed with music label Warner (Johnny Hallyday, Christophe Maé, Shy’m, Tal, etc.) and released his first single J‘ai cherché, an inspiring, addictive and catchy electro-pop hit.

J’ai cherché is now available on all digital platforms. Amir's first music album will be available on 29th April.

Broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest

France 2 will broadcast the Grand Final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, May 14th starting from 20:45 CET. Marianne James and Stéphane Bern will comment the show live from Stockholm.

The two Semi-Finals of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Tuesday, 10 May, and Thursday, 12 May. Both shows will be broadcast by France 4 at 21:00 CET. Marianne James and Jarry, a French comedian, will provide a live commentary during these two exciting evenings.
