Amsterdam, The Netherlands -

With the end of the summer the flow of news, rumours and gossip regarding the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest starts. The Dutch newspaper Telegraaf published today in their website that the Dutch broadcaster, TROS, and popular singer Anouk might be reaching an agreement to represent The Netherlands next May in Malmö.

Back in July a rumour appeared that one of The Netherland's biggest stars, Anouk, announced through her twitter that Dutch Television TROS had rejected her bid to represent the country in 2013 even though she had "a killer song". A twitter account that doesn't exist anymore, as Anouk announced through her website that she had no official twitter any longer.

Days after, TROS replied that she didn't contact the TV station but John de Mol, the producer of the Dutch national selection 2012 who, apparently, is now trying to persuade her to go to Eurovision.

What telegraaf.nl published today is that "the probability that Anouk will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest is fairly large". Daniel Dekker from TROS confirms that "there have been some meetings and we're putting lots of effort in working towards a solution".

Anouk has a requirement to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest and that is to not participate in a national competition with other artists. According to telegraaf.nl, until recently TROS stuck to a national selection, but it now seems that they think the program schedules can be deleted.

Anouk Teeuwe, 37, has released eight studio albums being a regular of the Dutch music scene since her biggest hit Nobody's Wife hit the charts in several European countries back in 1997:

The Netherlands won four times the Eurovision Song Contest, the last one of them in 1975 with Teach In's Ding-A-Dong. Recently they didn't reach the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004.

Interestingly, Vicky Leandros said the same when asked about representing Germany at the ESC: She would, but only if she didn't have to compete with other artists in a national final. Germany had an "open" final in 1972, so instead Vicky represented Luxembourg with one of the songs from her new German album, "Dann kamst du". It was given new French lyrics and entitled "Après toi". And the rest is, as they say, history ... report to the moderator

    Eduu_Argentine,

If the second semi-final was based entirely on televoting, The Netherlands would've ended up 10th and just sneaked into the Grand Final. It's the Jury votes that denied Joan a place in the Final.

So Joan Franka has ended up suffering the same fate as Anna Bergendahl did in 2010. report to the moderator

Why can't she just enter a national final. She'd probably win any way - it's just being selfish if no-one else is allowed to at least promote their music. Plus, last year's song festivaal was great - it makes good TV for TROS! report to the moderator

I adore the Netherlands, and I want to see them to well. I'd like to see an open National Songfestival, but if Anouk has a killer song then let her participate. report to the moderator
