Minsk, Belarus -

For the rest of this weekend, Belteleradio Company, the broadcaster of Belarus, is receiving applications for their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, In the meantime, they've set the date of their final on the 7th of December, so Belarus will, presumably, become the first known entry of the 2013 Contest.

In our recent article about Belarus plans for 2013, we told you how the country would pick their entry by the end of this year. Now their broadcaster has announced that the date of the final is the 7th of December.

Prior to this, artists and/or autors can apply for participation until Monday the 22nd of October (inclusive) to the following address:

  • BTRC, 220807 Minsk, ul Makaenka 9.

All applications stamped within the deadline will be considered. After this, a preliminary audition of the participants in front of the expert juries will take place on the 31st of October 2012. Then, a semi-final will take place on the 16th of November 2012 with maximum fifteen artists. The five winners of that semi-final will make it to the Final on the 7th of December.

As mentioned in our recent participant article, Belarus first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. Their best result to date was a 6th place in 2007 with Koldun's Work Your Magic. This year Litesound participated in the Second Semi-Final in Baku with the song We Are The Heroes.

Good that Belarus will join Malmö 2013. Belarus havent been to the latest finals in Eurovision. I'm happy that Belarus don't give up. I love Eurovision, and i dont like when countrys give up. I hope that Malmö will give us one of the best shows ever!
I'm from Stockholm and it gave me a chock, when i did know that Malmö will host Eurovision 2013. I think they did a big mistake, because Stockholm have the brand new arena "Friends arena". The arena is big, colourfull, and with much space for Eurovision. Eurovision would be massive if "Friends arena" would host the Eurovision. Still i love ESC and i'm happy that "Sweden" will host the contest 2013. report to the moderator
