Nicosia, Cyprus -

Today, Cyprus will present their song for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Appropriately, for Valentine's Day, it will be a love song, a ballad, sung in Greek, called An Me Thimase, which means 'If You Remember Me'. The song will be performed by Despina Olympiou.

You can watch the song today in a special presentation at 16:00 CET.

This year Cypriot broadcaster, CyBC made an internal selection to decide their entry for Europe's Favourite TV Show and chose the singer Despina Olympiou to represent the island nation.

Despina Olympiou has had a very successful career spanning from 1992 and still going strong in 2013. Last year she cooperated with Stereo Mike on the single Den s' Afino Apo Ta Matia Mou, which was a huge success in Greece and Cyprus.

The song, An Me Thimase, has been composed by two Cypriot citizens, with music by Andreas Giorgallis and lyrics by Zenon Zindilis.

The entry will be premiered today at 16:00 CET at a special press conference. This can be watched either by satellite (RIKSAT) or via the website of CyBC.

Despina Olympiou will also be making a guest appearance at the Greek national selection, Ellinikos Telikos 2013 on Monday the 18th of February.

despina is a wonderful singer, very stylish song and singer, way better than the cheap 'songs' in the running for greece this year and almost all years since the early 2000s. Despina is not an ex reality talent show contenstant, she is a real singer and very underrated in cyprus and greece because she is not cheap. Good for Cyprus that is represented by Despina and gladly cyprus returns to the style of songs sent to esc in the late 90s. There were many cheap/bad entries sent by cyprus in recent years since 2005 with the only exception 2007. Pleased that Cyprus sends something in native language and written by established Cypriot songwriters. I hope this kind of efforts would be rewarded in ESC. report to the moderator
