Anja will fly the Danish flag in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest after she won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the Danish national selection, with her song Where I Am. It was the second time that she had tried to enter the Eurovision Song Contest and now her dream is finally coming true.

Anja is 21 years old and was born and raised in Australia, but both her parents are Danish and most of her relatives lives in Denmark. In 2014 she won the third season of The Voice Australia. Keen to pursue her dream of a musical career she turned her attention to the Eurovision Song Contest which took her to Denmark.

At the recent Israel Calling event Anja was incredibly emotional and her pride at representing Denmark was clear for all to see. "I never gave up on my dreams, I kept trying", she said. Although Anja grew up hearing Danish all her life, she has only been speaking it for the past ten months.

Anja explained why the Eurovision Song Contest is important to her. "It has been a dream of mine since I was only 11 years old. I have always been longing for Denmark and wanting to find a deeper connection to my other homeland. By representing Denmark I feel as though I have already achieved so much. There is so much love in my heart because I feel now as though I have been accepted by Denmark. I want to make them proud and show Europe that we are all connected no matter where we come from."
