Baku, Azerbaijan -

In tonight's Azerbaijani final, one male and two female singers fought for the honour to represent their country in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. It was a really exciting show, with musically qualitative performances and nice guests. Dilara convinced an expert jury with her cover versions and got the ticket to Copenhagen!

Three entrants who reached tonight’s final of Böyük Səhnə, delivered a fantastic show. Erkin Osmanli started the evening with his cover version Girls, Girls, Girls. He appeared on stage in the cowboy hat and performed very convincingly, chatting with the girls surrounding him. Erkin got from the jury 38 points.

Dilara Kazimova sang History Repeating for the public whilst playing in front of the kitchen table on stage. In her performance, Dilara could show her talent as the opera singer, going deep and high with her voice. She got 40 points from the professional jury.

Khana Hasanova got a big applause for her first cover Dance Again. She entered the stage in a bright wine-red costume, accompanied by her dancers. Khana got 41 points.

In the second round, Dilara and Khana got 46 points for their performances. The jury gave 44 points for Erkin’s second entry.

To make the show more thrilling, the jury didn’t reveal their points until after the third round. The entire number of points were announced after all three contestants had performed (winner in bold):

  • Khana Hasanova - (41 + 46 + 42 = 129 points)
  • Dilara Kazimova - (40 + 46 + 50 = 136 poins)
  • Erkin Osmanli - (38 + 44 + 40 = 122 points)

The expert jury

Among the jury there were Eldar Gasimov (the winner of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest), Tunzale Agayeva (a famous Azerbaijani singer, composer, and honored artist of Azerbaijan), Murad Arif (an Azerbaijani hit maker, composer and producer).

Stefan Örn, one of the song writers of When The Music Dies that Sabina Babayeva performed in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, was among tonight’s juries.

Guests in tonight's final

After the first round, Tunzale Agayeva, one of the tonight’s jury, and a famous Azerbaijani singer, entertained the audience with her music.

In the second interval, Rustam Karimov, the representative of the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, came to support the finalists. Eldar Gasimov performed his song The One. Sabina Babayeva, the Azerbaijani representative in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, also sang for the public.

Dilara brings that real positive vibe on stage. Something that we are yet to see from Azerbaijan at Eurovision. Thank you juries for sending her to Eurovision. Hope more people fall in love with her! ITV must choose something upbeat and fun like Dilara herself! report to the moderator

I'm really happy for Dilara's victory. She has a great voice, she looks very cute and confident on the stage. I wish she can bring Eurovision back to the Land of Fire once again.

As for the song, I actually want her to sing Impossible in Copenhagen. It's a very emotional ballad, without an awful cliché tune change or annoying longlasting "scream". And it suits Dilara so well. With Impossible, I think, we could get top points both from jury and televoters. But if ITV will decide to choose another song, I'm sure they will choose the best.

Good luck, my motherland! Good luck AZERBAIJAN! report to the moderator

All that trouble, just so they could find the artist and not even the song... when will they ever learn :/
Seriously boring show I must say, and even the talk about the winner was already known before hand really ruined a lot, but on the positive side, if any of those songs could represent Azerbaijan, then what a fail it would've been, and plus there was no point where you really got to hear them sing, most of it sounded like playback. Can only cross my fingers that all that timewaste was worth it, when we get to know the song. report to the moderator
