Geneva, Switzerland -

Saturday, the 10th of May has been chosen as definitive date for the Grand Final of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. A final decision about host city and venue is set to be made over the course of the summer.

"The Host Broadcaster DR explored all options, and came to the conclusion that they keep maximum flexibility in chosing a venue and host city by scheduling the Final for the 10th of May," says Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the contest on behalf of EBU/EUROVISION.

"We have tried to find a date that suits the cities that currently compete for hosting and which also fits our European colleagues," says Pernille Gaardbo, Executive Producer of the contest on behalf of Host Broadcaster DR.

The Semi-Finals will take place on Tuesday, 6th and Thursday, 8th of May. The preliminary dates for the Contest were the 13th, 15th and the 17th of May.

Three Danish cities are still in the running to host Europe's favorite TV show in 2014, which reached over 170 million people this year. Emmelie de Forest won the competition for Denmark with the song Only Teardrops.

I am already putting these dates in my diary for next year. This year's competition was very good with the standard and variety of song styles very high. I am sure Denmark will do just as amazing a job with the show. Fingers crossed that Greece will be able to participate next year, I liked very much their song this year as well. report to the moderator

escfan2009: I said to my friend that I'm betting Norway will win. Not only is it a good day for it be on for them, but Norway is close to Denmark and look -- Malmo; 20 minutes from one of the possible host cities (Copenhagen).

However, we may be surprised this year. report to the moderator

Let's hope they go back to the tradition of the previous winner opening the show ... in the FINAL! this year's GF Opening was a bit of an anti-climax however the show itself was great! report to the moderator
