The interval acts for this year's Eurovision Song Contest have just been revealed - it'll be a mixture of foreign and local stars, from traditional to pop culture.

Traditionally, the opening and interval acts reflect the national culture of each Host Country. Thus, the audience of the Baku show will be presented with opening and interval acts that combine Azerbaijan's music and culture and are a synthesis of national traditions and modern trends.

The opening and interval acts of Eurovision Song Contest 2012 two Semi-Finals and the Grand Final are the mugham legend Alim Gasimov, Natiq rhythm band, Azerbaijan National Dance Ensemble, singer and composer Emin.

Also, local and foreign dance groups and singers will perform during the opening ceremony and interval acts of the Final on 26th of May. Foreign dancers, DJs, a music band made of Eurovision Song Contest stars, the participants of previous contests, as well as other popular local and foreign singers will present their shows during the Semi-Finals' interval acts.

The rehearsals of opening show and interval acts will be conducted in Buta Palace, Sport and Concert Complex named after Heydar Aliyev and Baku's other concert halls.

BTW, Freddie Mercury was a Zoroastrian Azeri whose ancestors had to move to India to keep their religion after the Arab invasions. Just saying... :) report to the moderator

The mugham better not go on for a long time; it alright for the first few minutes, but then it starts to get a bit boring. But I like the different cultures of the music. :) report to the moderator

    More for you, Greysuede,

For me personally - a bit boring maybe because I'm a bit more rebellious and assertive, so I prefer good rock, fast rhythms, good Eminem style Hip-Hop Rap. If you want to know more about what sort of music they play in Azerbaijan currently, search for H.O.S.T., Qaraqan, Yusif Miri, MIna, Elsad Xose! report to the moderator

Greysuede, Emin is talented but `i think he does;t have the taste (not the skill) for very modern style music, he likes retro and his idols are people like Muslim Magomaev and Engelbert Humpeldink. He is mixing well that retro style of music and tunes that would normally attract older population with the somewhat modern performance style and with his sufficiently cute appearance he hence attracts younger generation as well. Plus in Azerbaijan even younger generation likes a bit of retro (you can say youth is a bit old fashioned at times in Azerbaijan in their tastes as to be fans of more extreme music styles you also have to be a complete rebel, loosen up using alcohol to jump around wildly, be aggressive - none of these are attributes of Azeri peoples culture, not even youngsters'). So, for many Azeris he is great. report to the moderator

Personally, I do not consider Emin a great talent. They could have selected a better talent from among the local artists. Too sad for the country of big talents :( report to the moderator
