Heads of Delegation meet in Kyiv

There are now just 60 days to go until the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Earlier this week the Heads of Delegation met in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, where they were briefed on matters ranging from accreditation to transport and everything in between! The Head of Delegation meeting is a key milestone in the Eurovision calendar as it also marks the formal submission of all the entries to the competition.

Each participating country has a Head of Delegation who is the team leader and the contact point for the European Broadcasting Union. During the meeting delegates received updates from the core team of the Eurovision Song Contest and Host Broadcaster, UA:PBC, presented the plans for the postcards and for the event weeks.

The meeting also saw the draw for Ukraine's running order in the Grand Final take place. Ukraine will perform 22nd in the Grand Final on Saturday 13th May. Ukraine's previous winners, Ruslana and Jamala will also appear during the live shows.

Pavlo Hrytsak, Executive Producer of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest said; "We presented our team and showed our preparations during the head of delegations meeting. More than 220 Ukrainian and foreign professionals joined our team for the last 4 weeks as we continue preparation for Eurovision 2017. I'm really thankful to those who came and worked with us during head of delegations meeting in Kyiv".

Venues confirmed

Apart from the arena, the Euro Club is one of the most popular venues during the event weeks of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is the place where delegations, fans and press party the night away and this year the confirmed venue is the Parkovy Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Eurovision Village will be located on Khreschatyk, a huge street in the heart of Kyiv. The entertainment programme will feature live performances from the participating artists as well as themed parties and competitions.

The Red Carpet Event of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Sunday 7th May at Kyiv's Mariyinsky Palace and will be streamed live on YouTube. The Opening Ceremony will be held in the Euro Club. 

1000 volunteers will be on-hand during the event weeks to support fans, press and delegations. Nearly 12,000 applications were received in total. Kyiv's City Administration will also organise official tours of the Ukrainian capital.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine with Semi-Finals on 9th and 11th May and the Grand Final on 13th May. Kyiv last hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. 


Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk, and Timur Miroshnychenko will host the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
