Stockholm, Sweden -

In an interview with one of Sweden's leading daily newpapers, executive producer Martin Österdahl revealed that there will only be one presenter in Malmö - the first time since 1995.

In our recent article regarding the ambition to "unleash the full potential", we looked at how the plans for next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden were shaping up.

Now, in an interview with Swedish newspaper, Dagens Nyheter (DN), SVT's executive producer for the contest, Martin Österdahl, has revealed that they are looking to only have one presenter in Malmö next year, a stark contrast to previous years where up to three have compared the three live shows.

The last time this happened was in 1995 when Mary Kennedy presented Europe's favourite TV show at the then Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. From Oslo in 2010 to Baku in 2012 three presenters have been used to host the show but now SVT are taking it back to basics:

"We believe more in the way they present at the Oscars", Martin Österdahl told DN.

The presenter has yet to be picked but we will announce it as soon as it becomes known.

No more LED stages

Ranging from the innovative in 2000, to the basic in 2010 and the extravagant in 2009, LED screens have become a constant feature of the modern Eurovision Song Contest.

Now, SVT are looking to replace this with what Österdahl terms "the next big thing". This is somewhat ironic as it was SVT who introduced the LED concept in Globen in 2000 where portable LED screens were used to create a unique stage setting for each participating act. Now, once again the broadcaster is going to lead the further innovation of the contest.

He went on to tell the newspaper that they want a more intimate and less distance setting for the contest.

Why just one? Why do they have to change everything? SVT knows how much we care about eurovision and melodifestivalen here in Sweden and this is how they thank us for the high viewing figures every year. First they choose Malmö and now only one host, WHY? report to the moderator

in my opinion it is a good idea to change a bit, the three presenters in 2012 looked a bit confused together and too prepared. Anke, Stefan and Judith did a better job together, and i don't say this because i'm german. i like the idea to change the WOW-effekt of the stage reducing the use of pyrotechnics and led-screens. I would LOVE to have water included in the stage design like Dansk Melody Grand Prix in 2011. I don't know if i should like the fact of leaving out a ESC-slogan or moving to a smaller location like malmö-arena. Because eurovision has a huge fanbase and there want to be more people a part of it than just 15.500. But i strongly believe Sweden is going to make a good organised job and i am looking forward to Malmö 2013. A good slogan for me would be: *Together Euphoric* (a micture of loreens winning song and the idea of coming together) :-) report to the moderator

LCD, not LED. There weren't a million Light Emitting Diodes in Baku... there was a Liquid Crystal Display. report to the moderator

After watching clips of MF last year, I'd love to see Sarah Dawn Finer be the presenter. She's got great energy and an incredible sense of humor report to the moderator

A solo presenter for the first time since Mary Kennedy hosted back in 1995, very interesting. I'd love to see Sarah Dawn Finer do it, she's extremely funny and personable report to the moderator

Bad Idea, if that is gonna be like Oslo 2010, maybe would be ok but, something intimate would be bad for rithmyc songs report to the moderator

In terms of presenters, a realistic but possible scenario is that Gina Dirawi would host the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with Sarah Dawn Finer in charge of Melodifestivalen 2013. report to the moderator

Eric Saade as the presenter in the ESC 2013 would really make the show something special & highly entertaining with his charme, kindness and, last but not least, his handsomeness.
He has already taken part in Eurovision and did a really, really, really great job which is also something that shows that he's the right one for the job because he can authentically represent Sweden and the ESC in general.
So, in my opinion, choosing Eric Saade as the presenter of the ESC 2013 in Malmö would be the only right decision & would make the Eurovision 2013 an unforgettable event. The only other person that could be accepted as host would be Danny Saucedo, everything else would just ruin the ESC and disappoint many people. report to the moderator
