Yerevan, Armenia -

After an initial announcement that the Armenian entry for Malmö 2013 would be internally selected, Public Television of Armenia has now changed plans: As many high-quality songs have been received, a national final will be organised on 2 March. The singer representing Armenia will still be internally chosen, and he/she will sing all the songs in the national final.

Earlier this year, we already reported that Armenia would internally select their representative for Malmö, with Sirusho being one of the most rumoured candidates. The decision which singer will represent the country will be announced shortly.

Today, the Armenian public broadcaster has revealed more details: The singer will be internally selected, but the Armenian song for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen in a national final. The decision will be jointly taken by the TV public and by an expert jury.

The application period to send in songs starts on 22 January and it ends on 20 February. Songs complying with the rules of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest can be emailed to [email protected]. The national final will be broadcast live on the First Channel of the Public Television of Armenia on 2 March.
