Tonight the second semi-final of Dziesma 2014 took place in the Palladium concert hall in Riga, Latvia. Twelve more songs competed for the right to reach the forthcoming final in Ventspils, but only six could qualify. Who were the lucky ones that were Made In Latvia to proceed to the final?

The decision was reached by a 50/50 combination of a jury vote and televoting. Viewers could vote by phone, SMS and for the first time also by voting online, which viewers around the world could also vote,. The results produced the following six qualifiers (in bold) out of the twelve songs performed this evening.

The programme was presented by Ēriks Loks and Nauris Brikmanis.

  2. You Are The Reason sung by Katrine Lukins
  3. I Need A Soul-Twin sung by Mad Show Boys
  4. Lights On sung by Markus Riva
  5. Breathe Slow sung by Anete Volmane
  6. What If It Was sung by Rolands Ūdris
  7. Moment And Tomorrow sung by Katrīna Bindere
  8. Pa Vidu Tu sung by Andris Kivičs
  9. Pēdējā Vēstule sung by Dons
  10. Is It Possible sung by Sabīne Vidriķe
  11. Pressure sung by Sabīne Berezina
  12. If I Could (Get Away) sung by Eirošmits

As well as the artists competing in the contest, there were various guest artists, including Sinplus who represented Switzerland in the 2012 contest, Aija Andrejeva, Latvian Voices (the world choir champions), the Sola choir plus the groups Headline and Credo.

All twelve songs will compete in the final of Dziesma 2014 to be held on the 22nd of February in Ventspils for the honour of representing Latvia in the First Semi-Final in Copenhagen on Tuesday 6th May.

    As a Latvian living in Australia, I would love to see Saule Riet - Olga un Ligo get through as our representative in Copenhagen 2014! Beautiful to see some entries in the Latvian language and tautas dejas on screen! report to the moderator

    I think Latvia made a great mistake by not choosing Sabine Berezina and Pressure!! It could even win it all!! She has a great voice.. Love that song.. Like a song from a fantasy movie soundtrack.. report to the moderator
