The Host Country for this year's Eurovision Song Contest - Russia - was represented by an Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prikhodko and the song Mamo. The extremely emotional ballade about her mother's advice brought Russia another high placing - eleventh with 91 points.

Armenia was represented by a duo of Arshakyan sisters at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Inga and Anush put on probably one of the most visually appealing show in Moscow and earned their country once again a top ten placing with Jan Jan.

Urban Symphony rose the TV-ratings in the tiny nation of Estonia to a new record level. It was Rändajad who achieved which had seemed almost impossible for a while for the country - qualifying for the Final and becoming sixth!

The United Kingdom was lifted high this time at the Eurovision Song Contest, becoming fifth. The people behind that success are one of world's best songwriters Diane Warren and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and the young singer Jade Ewen with It's My Time.

Earlier today, 2009 Eurovision Song Contest winner Alexander Rybak presented his new album Fairytales. The 23-year old singer's record will hit the stores tomorrow, Friday, and will eventually be sold in 22 countries.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is "very satisfied" with the televoting during the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, Executive Supervisor Svante Stockselius said to Eurovision.tv. During the three live broadcasts of Europe's favourite TV show, only four glitches were reported.

Over 122 million television viewers tuned in for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, confirming its status as Europe’s favourite TV show. The 54th running, the biggest ever, organized by Channel One Russia and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), took place on 12, 14 and 16 May 2009 at the Olympiyski Indoor Arena in Moscow. It was won by Norway’s Alexander Rybak with the song Fairytale. The shows were broadcast live over the Eurovision network.
