Tonight in the first two hour show of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, broadcasted LIVE from Malmö Arena, 16 countries took part in the First Semi-final in order to qualify for 10 places available in Saturday's final. Today, the Belarusian representative Alyona Lanskaya had her second rehearsal. Not only the disco globe in the middle of the stage shone, but the singer herself, her dancers and backing vocalists sparkled in their beautiful dresses and costumes.

After having recorded some entries for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, Alyona Lanskaya made her choice on a hot Latin pop song called Solayoh. The music and lyrics of Solayoh were written by Marc Paelinck and Martin King.

Belarus was the first country to hold a televised national selection for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. In a truly spectacular show, a 50/50 combination of televoting and a professional jury unanimously decided that Alyona Lanskaya will go on to represent the country in Malmö!

Starting at 20:00 CET tonight, the first public national final for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will take place. Ten candidates will battle for the privilege of representing Belarus in Malmö next May, with the winner being jointly decided by a professional jury and the TV public. After receiving more than 80 applications from performers who wanted to represent them, the Belarus broadcaster, BTRC, decided not to organise the Semi-final and will decide their performer for Malmö on a single show on the 7th of December. In the final show ten out of those performers will participate.

For the rest of this weekend, Belteleradio Company, the broadcaster of Belarus, is receiving applications for their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, In the meantime, they've set the date of their final on the 7th of December, so Belarus will, presumably, become the first known entry of the 2013 Contest.

A press conference was held in Minsk on the 3rd of October by Belteleradio Company, the Belarus broadcaster, to explain their national selection project for 2013 which, in fact, takes place already this year: by December we will know who will represent Belarus in Malmö!
