Sweden: Anna Bergendahl to Oslo
One of the most awaited national finals this year took place in Stockholm's golfball Globen Arena tonight: Melodifestivalen, Sweden's most successful TV-show and the nation's way to select their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Approximately 4 million viewers followed the exciting event after a string of semi-finals had been held in various Swedish cities. Out of ten songs on stage tonight, it was finally Anna Bergendahl who got the maximum points and will now represent Sweden in Europe's favourite TV-show.

Tonight will see a final that all the Eurovision Song Contest fans all over the world have been waiting for: Melodifestivalen 2010, the Swedish national final for the Oslo contest which will take place at the end of May! The grand final of Melodifestivalen is Sweden's most popular show and every year, almost half of the population tune in to watch who will be the Swedish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Today saw the kick-off of the rehearsals for Sweden's Melodifestivalen, the national final for their Eurovision Song Contest. Dozens of journalists have gathered to follow the free rehearsals in Stockholm's gigantic Globen Arena and the expectations for the final are very high! Several singers have been named as probable winners of Melodifestivalen, with Anna Bergendahl being in the lead in the polls organised by Swedish tabloids. Not only the songs are discussed in the newspapers though, the rumour mills about the artists' private life are in the focus of the Swedish audience now as well and you can find revelations about almost everything almost every day. Tonight saw the last of five Swedish semi-finals for their national selection, the immensely popular Melodifestivalen! In contrast to the four semis before, this fifth one didn't include new songs, instead it featured those artists who had come 3rd and 4th respectively in the first four heats, thus getting a second chance to qualify. The 8 participating songs competed against each other in duels of two in two rounds of voting and the lucky ones winning both their duels were Pernilla Wahlgren and Jessica Andersson! Those two grabbed the vacant spots nine and ten for the grand final.

Malmö, Sweden's third biggest city, had the honour of hosting the 4th Swedish semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2010. Eight songs were on offer again, but only two got a direct ticket for the grand final which will take place in two weeks' time in the capital Stockholm. Those two most popular songs tonight came from Anna Bergendahl and Peter Jöback!
