For the last few weeks the French braodcaster France 3 has been fully preparing for the next Eurovision Song Contest. Now their new head of delegation, Mr. Frédéric Valencak, tells us the plans of France for Malmö 2013.

Broadcaster NRK have made a lot of changes to their national selection, Melodi Grand Prix in 2013, including hiring a new musical director. Now they have decided that the way in which the songs are revealed is to be changed.

Starting at 20:00 CET tonight, the first public national final for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will take place. Ten candidates will battle for the privilege of representing Belarus in Malmö next May, with the winner being jointly decided by a professional jury and the TV public. Lithuania is one of the countries that will pick their 2013 Eurovision Song Contest entry before the new year comes. With the final scheduled on Saturday the 22nd of December, the next two weeks the semi-finals will take place and now the list of acts that made it through is complete.

Finland choose their entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest through UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu). The New Music Competition looks for Finland's best new songs for the second year.

The Albanian public broadcaster RTSH has published the singers and songs in this year's Festivali i Këngës, the winner of which will represent Albania in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. No less than 26 acts will battle for the ticket to Malmö.

The Maltese national finalists have been announced during a TV show on Friday night. Among the 24 acts are several well-known faces, including Claudia Faniella, Kevin Borg, and Amber.

The decision of the Latvian public broadcaster LTV to allow foreign songwriters to enter songs for the 2013 national selection yielded a new record since 2008: No less than 122 entries were submitted! Now an expert jury will pick the finalists, to be announced on 11 December.

Russia has just started to release its plans for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. The runners up in Baku will select their candidate by means of a public selection and they made it very clear: Russia is in search of a hit!

Last week a press conference hosted by the Swedish Broadcaster, SVT, took place in Stockholm to introduce the artists that will take part in the first two semi-finals of their popular national selection Melodifestivalen in 2013 in Karlskrona and Gothenburg. Today the rest of the line-up was completed with the artists that will compete in Skellefteå and Malmö.

After the first three qualification shows, tonight it's time for LRT to broadcast the fourth heat. At 20:00 CET, eight further acts will compete to get three more places in the Semi-finals on December. Guest starring this week is Julia from 4Fun, who will also seat in the jury.

The month of December will be unusually busy this year when it comes to national selections for Eurovision. Not only Lithuania, Albania, Belarus and Switzerland but also Ukraine will be among the "early birds" - their national final will be broadcast on 23 December, and entries can be submitted until the day before.

On 14 February, the German entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen in a public national final, the mode of which has changed quite a bit compared to previous years: no talent show will be aired, but well-established acts will be chosen to compete in the show by a professional jury.

Last week the third qualifier of the Lithuanian national selection took place in Vilnius. Now after the jury and the televoting results have been combined we have the next three semi-finalists: Elvina Milkauskaitė, Neringa Šiaudikytė and Božolė. The fourth heat will be broadcast on Saturday.

As previously announced, Roberto Bellarosa will represent Belgium at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö in May. Now plans for a radio final with three songs have been revealed by RTBF.
