After receiving more than 80 applications from performers who wanted to represent them, the Belarus broadcaster, BTRC, decided not to organise the Semi-final and will decide their performer for Malmö on a single show on the 7th of December. In the final show ten out of those performers will participate.

Just like last year, the Hungarian representative for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen in a televised national selection involving several shows. Details have been announced this week by the public broadcaster MTV.

For the fourth year in a row the readers of Spanish-language fansite Eurovision-spain.com have chosen, through the poll La Elección Interna, their favourite candidate to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest. For the 2013 edition in Malmö, the artist they've chosen as the ideal performer is the popular singer Malú. Born in Madrid in 1982, Malú started her career at age 15 and has since then become one of Spain's top stars with eight studio albums to her credit.

Tonight, the first qualification heat of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest season took place in Switzerland. Out of seven acts, two qualified for the Swiss national final, to be held on 15 December in Kreuzlingen: Chiara Dubey, who was the top choice of both the jury and the public, and Ally!

Although the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will take place next May, tonight the national selections season kicks off in Lithuania. The broadcaster LRT announced that their final will take place around Christmas time, but on the build up to that, a series of shows and semi-finals will air in the coming weeks.

For the rest of this weekend, Belteleradio Company, the broadcaster of Belarus, is receiving applications for their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, In the meantime, they've set the date of their final on the 7th of December, so Belarus will, presumably, become the first known entry of the 2013 Contest.

Latvian Television (LTV) calls for songs for the Latvian national selection for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. The submission deadline is the 30th of November.

Vocal quality, charisma, and quality of the song are the three key factors the Austrian entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest has to fulfill according to the public broadcaster ORF. Until mid-November, an expert committee will select five promising acts, who will get to battle for the ticket to Malmö in the Austrian national final, on 15 February.

Elin Petersson. That's the name of the first composer that has been guaranteed a place in next year's biggest TV show in Sweden, Melodifestivalen. Her song Island is the winner of a non-established-writers competition to get a place in Sweden's national selection and Elin herself looks like the perfect performer's choice.

The successful Dutch artist Anouk has just posted a video message on Facebook confirming that she will represent her country in Sweden next year.

The three Swiss public broadcasters are already busy preparing for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest: while the Italian-language channel RTSI will hold a televised regional preselection round already next Tuesday, the German-language broadcaster SF has launched public online voting to determine their entries for the Swiss national final. Among them is, just like last year, the winner of the first ever Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, Lys Assia!

A press conference was held in Minsk on the 3rd of October by Belteleradio Company, the Belarus broadcaster, to explain their national selection project for 2013 which, in fact, takes place already this year: by December we will know who will represent Belarus in Malmö!

After some informations were spreading that Bulgarian Television had already chosen the format for their 2013 Eurovision Song Contest national selection, the broadcaster BNT has released their own statement to answer such rumours, thus confirming their participation in Malmö next year.

With the Eurovision Song Contest being held in neighbouring Sweden next year, Denmark's songwriters have been very busy over the summer and a record 692 songs have been submitted to DR!
